What is a PURE RANGER? It's one of the three types of pkers A.K.A player-killers. A pure ranger strives to improve their range level while maintaining a low combat level and also, increasing its hitpoint level. Contradictory to the Warriors, rangers specializes in ranged combat. Which means they attack from a distance rather than up close, thus avoid getting hit. They can fire their arrows rapidly and still maintain quite a decent amount of damage towards their opponents too! Basics of a PURE RANGER There's two weapon of choice for you Rangers out there, they are the "Shortbow" and the "Longbow". Shortbows are capable of firing at a more rapid rate compared to the longbow when both are in "Rapid"-fire mode. Therefore, I would highly recommend you to use shortbows. Also, when firing arrows, it will be best to put your attack option on "rapid" so you can fire as many arrows as possible and just be about 5% short of hits when comparing it to the "accurate" option. Pure ranger basic inventory [Level 1 ~ 70] Bag/Inventory: • Training: Salmons/ Trouts. • PKing: All lobsters/swordfish. [We're pure rangers, so no magic] Wielded: Hats: • Cowl [Range level 1 ~ 19] • Coif [Range level 20 & above] Amulet: • Amulet of Power [Used Throughout the entire career as a pure ranger] • Amulet of Accuracy [Alternate option, however, it provides less range bonus] Gloves/Vambraces: • Leather Vambraces [Range level 1 ~39] • Green D'hide Vambraces [Range level 40 & above] Body Armor: • Leather Body [Used Throughout the entire career as a pure ranger] Leg Armor: • Leather Chaps [Range level 1 ~ 19] • Studded Chaps [Range level 20 ~ 39] • Green D'hide Chaps [Range level 40 & above] Cape: • Any Colored Cape [Used Throughout the entire career as a pure ranger] Boots: • Fighting Boots [Obtained From Stronghold of Security.] [Used Throughout the entire career as a pure ranger] Training Before you begin your training, make sure to have at least 2k iron arrows and 1k steel arrows, or 3k iron arrows. The approximate cost for this will be around 50-60k gp. Next, find every shortbow out there starting from a shortbow to a maple shortbow. After you have gotten your weapons be sure to buy some armor. I suggest buying leather armor, leather chaps, leather vambraces, studded chaps, a cowl, and a coif. You could also buy your pure set (green dragonhide chaps and vambraces) beforehand to save 30 minutes of going to a crowded world. Then read on to find out where you will be training to increase your range level in as little time as possible. Level 1 ~ 10: First off, move to the chicken coop at South-East of Falador. This chicken coop is normally empty on any server so begin your training by killing approximately 97 chickens. After you have done so, head on over even west to the crafting guild.
Level 11 ~ 20: Once you have reached the crafting guild, please be sure to range cows from the north-west entrance if you are looking to pick up your arrows while ranging. Make sure to hide behind the fence and fire away at the cows. This is to prevent you from getting hit. Note there will be some dairy cows so don't mix regular cows up with dairy cows! It will take you approximately 98 cow s to reach level 20. Level 20 ~ 30: Skeletons are by far one of the best F2P monsters to range on because they offer very fast exp. Head on over to the Edgeville Dungeon (yes, the one with the hill giants) and go to the hallway where the skeletons are. Usually no one ever uses the skeletons so that means there are no arrow stealers! Hide behind the rocks and just fire your arrows away. It will take approximately 88 skeletons to reach level 30. You might want to bring a brass key and use the entrance to the hill giants to go to the skeletons if you're looking to save some time.
Level 31 ~ 40:
Now you have to choose from one of two options. You can continue to range those pesky skeletons, which still are the best experience for you, or you can range on hill giants who will give you fairly decent exp along with some big bones which you can sell to cover your arrow costs. I suggest ranging those skeletons just because if you are F2P the hill giants are usually swarmed with arrow stealers and other players. If you are ranging skeletons it will take you 222 skeletons to reach level 40, otherwise it will take you 152 hill giants, but keep in note that the hill giants cave is usually swarmed. Also, be sure to bring a brass key with you.
Level 41 ~ 60:
From my opinion, I would suggest that you go the edgeville guards next. Keep the gate closed and shoot from outside. You can stay inside and shoot at those out there thou. This method is only effective from level 41 till 50. Once you reach 50, move on to the moss giants in varrock sewers. It will take you a whopping 987 moss giants just to reach 60 range so stay in there! It shouldn't take too long if you just "get your head in the game". So don't look at how much exp you have left unless you want to moan and whine that you need 20,000 exp just to reach a level. Level 61 ~ 99: Simply head over to Kramja Island now. To go there, head over to Port Sarim and bring 60 GP with you. Take the boat to Karamja from there. Move Westwards till you reach a volcano of some sort. Enter by going down the hole indicated by the exclamation mark. 40 thousand is the number of lesser demons you would need to kill in order to reach level 99 range. Don't be surprised by the whopping amount, you would get good drops such as rune medium helmet once every often. Oh, and please bring quality food such as lobsters, swordfish. No trout for this place please, it won't be of much help when you're attacked by the sharp claws of the demons.
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions 1. As a pure ranger, can you train your prayer? Training prayer is optional for a pure ranger but it would best not to get it above keen eye because keen eye is one of the range boost prayers that boost up your range ability yet not increasing that many combat levels. It would be best if you were to pick up the bones that your kills drop instead of buying them. 2. Are there range potions to increase my ranging power? Of course! You just have to be a member and buy them or you could make it yourself if you have the required herblore level. However, since your reading this guide for F2P pure ranger, I would infer that you would not wish to go P2P. 3. Can I train range using the dwarf cannon? I personally don't suggest this but if you would like, then you would train using the dwarf cannon on rock crabs. But remember both rock crabs and the dwarf cannon are members only.

You can Improve by organising the information a bit more - sometimes hard to follow - and adding a few pics to liven it up, but overall good content.

I think it's all great, but there's one thing the fighting boots from Stronghold of security it like brings down your range by 1.
not too bad, although hillies are good from 35 range on (slow but very much cost effective). don't forget to update ur guide to match current rs, seeing as low lvls now have a good place to train at in the catacombs against corpse magers (fast and they drop lots of bronze arrows, as well as other things that can total up to about 30k a load). 6/10 due to low detail and inorganization. but good info =0 and the number of monsters to kill varies, usually will be less since they heal slightly unless u kill them in 1 or 2 hits.

fuck em dude tbh i personally think this is better then most guides ive been seeing lately, but if u wanna no-life for 1 day and get 1-40+ range then play sick and stay home from school and do
1-10 chickens
10-20 cows
20-40 flesh crawlers
and if u get p2p flesh crawlers can make u a nice amount of change stacked up, and if u use knives thats 10x faster lol, but in like 7-8hrs i did that then within 2-3 weeks i maintained a 70 range pure f2p only, took me so long to do 40-70 cuz i did it purely from pking and ended with a stack of cash bigger than my current skillers cash, (32m) but fucked up the acc but 60atk 60str and knives > dclaws pking and dclaws fail miserably at low lvs, u need to be a sws prod lol, or use rsb and bot your zeal at sws or pc.. add me ingame @

I've been playing this game for quite a few years, and from my experience, I've found cows to be extremely good. I've recently made a new range pure, training from 1-15 on chickens, and 15-60 on cows. From 60+, my advice is to kill skeletons in varro k sewers. Good job on equips, although I'd say buy bronze arrows and power range with them (no picking up). This trains even faster than addy arrows with pickup, and it's cheaper.
Also get some magic to bind/fire blast/teleport. :)
